Donald T. "Don" Richardson

Donald T. “Don” Richardson, 85, of Florence, passed away at Duke University Medical Center on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Don was born in Marion County, the son of the late Taylor W. and Minola Price Richardson. He had retired from E.I. DuPont as a Control Mechanic after 32 years of service. He was a long time member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the United Methodist Mens’ Club, taught the Lizzie Streett Sunday School class, was a member of the Administrative Board of the church, and was on the Cemetery Committee. He was a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge #52 and active in Cooks For Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and by daughters-in-law, Janet Taylor Richardson and Ethel Richardson. Surviving are his wife, Patsy Erma Poston Richardson of Florence; sons, Ivan (Janet Groce) Richardson of Camden and Ray Richardson of Florence; daughter, Joye (Joey) Morris of Manning; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and sisters, Jessie Purvis of Sumter and Nellie Avin of Florence. Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 5422 Old Marion Highway, Florence, SC 29506. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Monday, July 1, 2019 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Friendship United Methodist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
