Donald Gray Hood

Donald Gray Hood, Sr., 84, of Florence, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. Mr. Hood was born in Marlboro County, SC, a son of the late Alexander A. Hood and Alice Gray Hood.He was a veteran of the US Navy.Mr. Hood was a member of Central United Methodist Church.He retired from Maola Ice Cream and was self-employed in refrigeration repair. Surviving are his wife, Alvia McCormick Hood of Florence; son, Donald Gray (Rebecca Greene) Hood, Jr. of Midlothian, VA; daughters, Cindy Hood Reinheimer of Summerville, SC and Sharon Hood (Bruce) Burner of Florence; grandchildren, Amber Blalock, Katherine Hood (Peter) Mazzaroni, Amanda Gray Hood, Casey Burner (Craig) Skinner, Joshua Blalock, Lauren Burner (Todd) Mullis and Ellis Burner; great-grandchildren, Addisyn Mazzaroni and Talon Mazzaroni; brother-in-law, Luther Clapp and sister-in-law, Gerry Hood; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Joyce Wright for her care and friendship to Donald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sara Hood Hutchinson and Carolyn Hood Clapp, and his brothers, J. C. Hood and Alex Hood. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
