Donald Eugene Gibbs

Donald Eugene Gibbs, 83, of Florence, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018. Mr. Gibbs was born in Pamplico, SC, a son of the late Wilburn J. Gibbs and Helen Elizabeth Cox Gibbs.He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and a graduate of Carolina College of Commerce.He was employed for 30 plus years at Stephenson Finance/Trans South in Technology Management.Following his retirement, he was office manager for Pee Dee Pathology.Mr. Gibbs was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including Chairman of the Board of Deacons. Surviving are his wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Coleman Gibbs of Florence; son, Donald Eugene “Gene” Gibbs, Jr. of Greenville, SC; daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” (John) Charles of Pawley’s Island, SC; grandchildren, Rusty (Jenny) Charles, Jennifer (Chuck) Reeve, Coleman Gibbs and Walker Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Beth Charles and Erin Charles; brother, Wayne (Faye) Gibbs of Pamplico and special friend,Marvin Lynch. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church.The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
