DIXIE SCHANER EFFINGHAM, SC Dixie Schaner, 77, of Effingham, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016. Mrs. Schaner was born in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Lurie Alexander and Bertie Flowers Alexander.She was a member of Effingham Presbyterian Church, a member of the Square Dance Club and loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mack and James and sisters, Joyce, Betty Jo and Josephine. Surviving are her husband, Richard Schaner of Effingham; sons, Ricky (Lynn) Flowers of Effingham, Randy (Lisa) Flowers of Florence, Michael (Terry) Schaner and David (Cindy) Schaner, both of Florida and Edward (Tracy) Schaner of New York; daughters, Marcia Schaner of New York and Connie (Buster) Taylor of Florence; brothers, Lurie (Judy) Alexander of Surfside, Charles (Jean) Alexander of Pamplico, John (Sarah) Alexander of New Zion and Nelson (Rose) Alexander of Florence; sisters, Mary Lee Plass of Florence and Linda (Roger) Poston of Johnsonville; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Effingham Presbyterian Church, PO Box 25, Effingham, SC29541. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Effingham Presbyterian Church.Entombment will follow in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
