Dexter “James” Maddox, 80, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at a local hospital. Mr. Maddox was born in Fayette, Alabama, a son of the late William Dexter and Louzell Duckworth Maddox.He was a mechanic with Carolina Power & Light Company.He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the times he had with his fishing friends.He was a member of Quinby Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Doris Hickson Maddox; son, Danny Jay (Cindy) Maddox of Abbeville, SC; brothers, William Wayne (Doris) Maddox of Summerville, SC and Jimmy David Maddox of Pamplico, SC; grandchildren, Danielle Maddox Riffenburg and Jason Nathaniel Maddox; great-grandchildren, Corbin Riffenburg and Leah Riffenburg. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 prior to the service in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Memorials may be made to Quinby Baptist Church, 950 E.
