Dewey Thomas Kirby

Dewey Thomas Kirby, 76, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Carolinas Hospital System. Mr. Kirby was born in Florence County, a son of the late Dewey Thomas Kirby, Sr. and Leola Stone Kirby.He was a veteran of the US Navy and a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church.He was also a member of Flintville Lodge #158, past Worshipful Master, was a Mason and a member of the Omar Shrine Provost Guard.Mr. Kirby retired from owning and operating his own heating and air conditioning company. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Robert Kirby. Surviving are his wife of forty-six years, Margaret Roberts Kirby; his son, Dewey T. Kirby, III and special daughter, Regina Lynch, both of Florence. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Southside Baptist Church.
