Della Childers Powers

Della Childers Powers, 84, of Florence, SC went to be with Jesus on December 27th, 2025. She was born on March 14th, 1941, to the late James and Macie Sansbury Childers.

In addition to her parents, Della was preceded in death by her grandson, Chandler Burns.

Della is survived by her two children, Timmy Powers (Kenyon) and Penny Burns (Marc); four grandchildren, Jordan (Chelsea), Micah (Sara), Dawson, and Laurel (Zach) and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Dora and Evelyn Childers, and one brother, Jim Childers (Liza).

Della graduated from Francis Marion University and worked for Florence School District 1 for over forty years. She was a founding member of Church at Sandhurst. She was best known for her faith, her thoughtfulness and giving spirit, her dedication in her work and ministry and for “living a life filled with love, following the example of Christ”. Della was a much-beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

There will be a private graveside service on Friday, January 2nd, 2026. The family will receive friends at Church at Sandhurst from 3-5pm following the service on Friday.
