Debra “Debby” Gail Edwards Ray, 60, of Florence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by her family and friends. Mrs. Ray was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Bobby Lee Edwards and Betty Scott Edwards.She graduated from McClenaghan High School and was a medical transcriptionist from 1996 until 2011.Mrs. Ray was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, the Adult Bible Class, and the Ronnie Hanna Sunday School Class.She loved sewing, crafts, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.Everybody affectionately called her “Nana”. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Tammy Edwards Fowler. Surviving are her husband of 42 years, James Danny Ray; her children, James Daniel “Dan” (Jessica) Ray and Mandy Ray (James) Floyd, both of Florence; three grandchildren, Danielle Ray, Jodie Ray and Abbi Floyd; her sister, Sandra Edwards Avant of Florence; special brother-in-law, Billy Fowler of Tabor City, NC; niece, Kristi Sellers of Effingham and her children, Benji Sellers and Kodi Sellers; and a number of cousins, including two special cousins, Dale Poston who was like a brother and Nancy Bailey who was like a sister. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at First Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Florence Memorial Gardens Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
