Deborah McClain Altman

May 24, 1952 — Sep 8, 2026

Deborah McClain Altman, 74, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 24, 1952, to Guy Norris and Dolores McClain, Deborah was their first daughter who faithfully supported her parents throughout their lives. After attending both high school and nursing school in Florence, SC, she dedicated her working life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse, serving at institutions including Presbyterian Home and Heritage Nursing Home.

Family always came first for Deborah. She was the proud mother of Carl Altman and his wife, May. A doting "MiMi" to her grandchildren, Nate Altman of Florence and Caspian Boney (Zay) of Rock Hill. She is also survived by her siblings, Guy Norris McClain (Edna) of South Carolina and Teresa Jeffries (Richard) of Louisiana, as well as her nieces and nephews: Matthew, Daniel, and Joseph McClain, and Holly and Christian Jeffries.

Outgoing, full of surprises, and never one to meet a stranger, Deborah was a delight to talk with and never hesitated to stand up when a situation called for it. She was generous with her time and resources, a great friend to all, showing love to everyone, and enjoyed playing tennis and racquetball, watching a good movie, reading books, listening to Elvis, and loved the color red.

Services will start Monday, September 14th at 10:00 AM starting with a rosary and the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM followed by a visitation at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Florence, SC. Flowers are welcomed, or memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

God bless your soul, Deborah. We miss you.
