David Ray Hilburn Florence, SC David Ray Hilburn, 81, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012 in a local health care facility after an illness. Mr. Hilburn was born in Fair Bluff, NC, the son of the late Jessie Hilburn and Jewel Callahan Hilburn Benton.He was a US Air Force Veteran having served during Korea.He retired after 34 years as a regional manager from RBC & Liberty Life Insurance Company.Mr. Hilburn is in the Insurance Hall of Fame as an agent, sales manager and sales director. He is preceded in death by in addition to his parents by his wife of 57 years, Agnes Alyne Hilburn, and a daughter, Sherri Hilburn. Surviving are a daughter, Shelia H. (Ricky) Rogers of Florence; two sons, David D. (Suzanne) Hilburn of Beach Island and Marty (Catherine) Hilburn of Timmonsville; two grandchildren, Toni M. (Jason Bass) Hilburn and Rick L. Rogers, II; five half brothers and sisters, Patsy Turbeville, Jessie Wayne Hilburn, Sammy Hilburn, Jennie Sue Hilburn, and Ronnie Hilburn all of North Carolina; special cousins, Libby Ann Godwin & Gary Godwin and family, Henry Hilburn and family; and a special friend Ann Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Interment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
