David Lee Hanna Surfside Beach, SC David Lee Hanna, 78, died Wednesday morning at the Agape Hospice Center, near Conway, SC, after a long illness of Alzheimer’s disease.He was at Agape 1 ½ months.David was a man of God and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.He was and is beloved of all his family and will be missed but we rejoice in his homegoing to his heavenly Father. David was the retired owner and operator of David’s Aviation, LLC, located at 712 Pilots Lane in Timmonsville, SC for twenty years.He received his A&P (Basic Airframe and Power Plant) operator’s license and his IA (Inspector Authorization) license.He and his wife, Judy, lived at 712 Pilots Lane, Timmonsville where he had his business.Prior to this, David owned and operated Hanna’s TV & Electronics business on Coit St., in Florence, SC for 30 years. Funeral services will be conducted by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6pm to 8pm Sunday evening.Services will be 3pm Monday at Immanuel Baptist Church, 306 Cherokee Rd, followed by Interment at Florence Memorial Gardens.Family and friends will be received at The Brutons’ located at 2920 Woodbine Ave. Mr. Hanna was born in Florence County and graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1952.He was the son of the late Windham Cerel and Mollie Pickett Hanna.He is survived by his beloved wife, Jewel (Judy) Vause Hanna of 59 years; four daughters, Lyn Soto, (Vince) of Surfside Beach, Susan Bruton (Ricky) of Florence, Karen Hanna of Surfside Beach, and Davia Isleib John) of Jacksonville, FL; Five grandchildren, Vincent Soto (Ginger) of Florence, Jayme Windham, (Tim) of Lamar, Elizabeth Bruton of Florence, Mollie Soto of Charleston, and David Isleib of Jacksonville, Florida; two great-granddaughters, Madilyn Joy Soto of Florence and the late Taylor Paige Windham of Lamar; one great-grandson, Keaton Windham of Lamar; one sister, Sara H. Dean (Gary) of Surfside Beach. Mr. Hanna was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Class Teacher of an adult men’s group, Leader of an Ambassador’s class of young boys, member of the church choir and a member of Henry Cash’s Sunday School class.David was last a member of the Grand Strand Community Church of Surfside Beach, Carlton Davidson, Pastor.He traveled on many mission trips, including Guatemala where he worked with Living Waters Ministry for several years with Mack and Peggy McKeown.He also went to Mexico, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Albania, Africa, Nicaragua and Venezuela. Mr. Hanna was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.He served on the ships USS Prevail and the USS Atka.He was on the USS Atka (AGB3) and went with Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd on the Antarctic Expedition 1954-1955.He was a FT2 (Fire Control Technician) when discharged June 1961.While on USS Atka, he was inducted into the Sacred Order of the Dragon 12/30/54, the Ancient Order of the Marina 2/6/55 and the Domain of the Penguin (Ruler of the Antarctic) 1/12/55.
