David Lionel Baker, 90, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Mr. Baker was born in Horry County, SC, a son of the late Bernice Jones Baker and Therman T. Baker.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII.He retired as a car inspector with Seaboard Coast Line Railroad.Mr. Baker was a member of Sandhill Free Will Baptist Church.He was Mason and a Shriner.Mr. Baker loved to fish and hunt. Surviving are his children, David L. (Linda) Baker, Jr. of Florence and Janice Wypychowski of Raeford, NC; step-children, Terry W. (Wanda) Stewart and Shirley Pierce, both of Effingham, SC; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and brothers, M. C. Baker of Texas and T. J. Baker of Michigan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lurleen Fowler Baker; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and his sisters, Jessimine B. DeFee, Mildred Irene B. Ropel and Betty Faye B. Cromer. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
