DAVID JONES FLORENCE, SC Heaven gained the greatest Husband and Dad on the afternoon of June 23rd 2015.David Jones, age 77, passed away after an extended illness at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC surrounded by family. Mr. Jones was born on March 11, 1938 to the late Elijah Washington “Tom” Jones and the late Josie Poston Jones.He was the fourth of nine children.Mr. Jones was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Florence.In 1971 he started Jones Construction where he continued to work until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Alan Jones; brothers, Charles Jones and James Douglas “J.D.” Jones and sister, Dorothy Jones Brantley. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 54 years, Blanche Sellars Jones; son, Neal (Stacey) Jones, Tommy (Kendall) Jones and Ashley (Summer Lewis) Jones; daughter, Kathy Hayes; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray Jones, Leroy Jones and Carroll (Linda) Jones; sisters, Barbara Jean Wilder and Sarah Cox; sisters-in-law, Elsie Williamson Jones and Louise Kern. Memorials may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, 155 E. 55th Street, Suite 6H, New York, NY10022. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, June 26, 2015 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to give their deepest thanks and blessings to Dr. O. Sitti and Dr. Shawn C.
