David Elwood Hutchinson

REV. DAVID ELWOOD HUTCHINSON PAMPLICO, SC Rev. David Elwood Hutchinson, 84, of Pamplico, SC went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Pastor Hutchinson was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late John Calvin Hutchinson and Veatrice “Vera” Hyman Hutchinson.He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War.He attended the Free Will Baptist Bible College, which is now known as Welch College, in Nashville, TN and had been a Free Will Baptist minister for 50 years, having pastored in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.He was a member of Mt. Elon Free Will Baptist Church and worked with the Department of Agriculture’s ASCS offices in Columbia, SC and in various counties in South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jonathan Paul Hutchinson and Joseph Ray Hutchinson as well as brothers, Dallas Hutchinson, Thurman Hutchinson and L. Hutchinson, who passed away as a toddler. Surviving are his devoted wife of 60 years this June, Mildred Maye Byrd Hutchinson of Pamplico; sons, Timothy David (Suzan) Hutchinson, Sr. of Nashville, TN and Stephen Daniel (Kim) Hutchinson of Chipley, FL; daughter, Rebecca Jean Hutchinson Morgan of Pamplico; 17 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; brother, Kelly Hutchinson of Pamplico; sisters, Barbara Ann Davis of Timmonsville and Willie Mae Smith of Florence; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family members. Elon Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
