Darrell Lee "Duck" Swain

Darrell Lee “Duck” Swain, Sr., 80, of Florence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 5, 2017 after a long, courageous fight with cancer.His longtime friend and caregiver, Janis Munnerlyn was at his bedside. Darrell was born July 20, 1937 in Norfolk, VA.He was a US Air Force veteran and a man of faith in Christ.He retired from Noland Co. and was a member of the Country Club of SC until his health failed.Darrell loved fishing, golfing, music and the Carolina Gamecocks. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Marjorie Swain and brothers, Robert and John Swain. Surviving are his sons, Darrell Lee Swain, Jr., Lonnie Mack Swain, James “JD” Darrell Swain and Kevin Lee Swain; brothers, Phillip Swain of Tampa, FL and Danny Swain of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Barbara Morgan of Norfolk, VA and his extended family who all loved him dearly. Memorials may be made to Crimestoppers of the Pee Dee, 6719 Friendfield Road, Effingham, SC29541 or Agape Hospice, 2182 W. Evans Street, Florence, SC29501. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with visitation following the service. Sincere appreciation is extended to the staff of Agape Hospice, especially his nurse, Michelle Benson.Her devoted and compassionate care made his last months of life much easier.
