Daniel Henry Mcneill

DANIEL HENRY MCNEILL FLORENCE, SC Daniel Henry McNeill, 92, of Florence, SC, husband of Claire Russell McNeill, died peacefully at Carolinas Hospital Systems on May 30, 2017. Born May 14, 1925 in McColl, SC, he was the son of the late Henry George McNeill and the late Lida Harris McNeill. Mr. McNeill was a Technical Sergeant in the United States Armed Forces and a World War II veteran. He proudly served in the European Theater. He retired from CSX Transportation (formally ACL Railroad) after 45 years of faithful service as a train dispatcher. Mr. McNeill was a 1963 charter member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church where he served in capacities as deacon, elder and treasurer. In addition to his loving wife of 70 years, Mr. McNeill is survived by two daughters, Carolyn McNeill Hughes of Gaffney, SC and Beth Driggers Cooke (Frank) of Hanahan, SC; two grandsons, Keith Driggers (Laurie) of Charleston, SC and Clif Driggers of Mt. Pleasant, SC; granddaughter, Kimberly Hughes Martin (Jeremie) of Gaffney, SC; granddaughter in law, Julie K. Driggers of Charleston, SC; great grandson, Sergeant Jonathan Carpenter (Morgan) of Proctorville, OH; two great granddaughters, Destiny and Bella; sisters, Ruth M. Westbury (Hugh Mac) and Nancy M. Collins and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. McNeill is predeceased by, three brothers, Neal, George and Harris McNeill. The family invites friends and loved ones to visit at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home located at 2402 S. Irby St. Florence, SC 29505, on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service will be at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, located at 2000 Marsh Ave., Florence, SC 20505 on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery located at 100 Cherokee Rd., Florence, SC 29501. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations be made to John Calvin Presbyterian Church, Thornwell Home for Children, 302 S.
