Daniel A. Grier

Daniel A. Grier, Jr., passed away on May 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Elisa Cavendish Grier; sons, Andrew Carpenter Grier and Matthew Davis Grier; his grandson, Andrew “Brayden” Grier; step-father, Douglas Cheek of McColl and a number of cousins.Danny also leaves behind his beloved Springer Spaniel, “Hank”, his Brittany Spaniel “Scout” and his house companion “Jackson” a Yorkie. He loved his family more than life itself and was proud to be “Brayden’s very special “G-pa”. Danny was an avid boater but, Sailing was his passion. He had sailed all types of sailboats all of his adult life. Danny loved the beach and spending time with his family.Danny was also a long time guitar player and music writer. Danny was a dedicated State of SC Social Worker, working in Child Protective Services and retiring from Child Support in 2011. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, The Darlington Humane Society or the Wounded Warriors Project. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church.The family will receive friends immediately following the service.Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
