Daisy Stone Calcutt

July 16, 1930 — June 6, 2015

Daisy Stone Calcutt, 84, of Florence, passed away Saturday June 6, 2015 after an illness. Mrs. Calcutt was born in the Vox community near Johnsonville, a daughter of the late Marvin Doris and Thelma Louise Cox Stone. She was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. She had retired from Southern Bell with over 40 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. After retirement she had worked part-time with Southgate Bowling Center, was an avid bowler who loved her bowling friends, bowled on the team “Relentless” and had won many local and national competitions. She was a life-long member of the Pee Dee Bowling Association, a member of the S.C. Bowlers’ Association, and a life member of the USBC. She is survived by 2 brothers; Marvin Donald Stone andMajor Doolittle (Hazel) Stone, both of Johnsonville; 3 sisters; Melinda Doris Moore of Lakeland, FL; Dora S. DuRant of Johnsonville and Deloris Brock of Florence as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Douglas Calcutt; her sons; Dale Calcutt and Douglas Calcutt; two brothers, David Stone and Devoe Stone; sister, Diane S. Marsh and brother-in-law, David Marsh. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
