Cletus Cox, 85, of Pamplico, SC, passed away peacefully at McLeod Hospice House at 10:00am on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; sons Bill (Gale) of Simpsonville, SC and Steve (Deborah) of Pamplico, 4 grandchildren Bradley (Mary) Cox, Cara (Peter) Harris, Ryan (Lynlee) Cox, Jennifer (Terrell) Cox and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Medford Cox and sister Virgiline Davison. He was pre-deceased by brothers, Marion, Cortez, Blondon and Lorie and two sisters, Virginia Creel and Madeline Baxley. Cletus was a devoted husband to his Mary Ann for 7 weeks short of 65 years and a loving father to his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was born in Hemingway, SC as the middle child of 9 children of Cullen and Odessa (Miles) Cox. He retired in 1999 from Marsh Lumber Company in Pamplico. He was a charter member of The Well at PPHC and served as a board member for the first 50 years of its existence. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years. His passions were working on small engines, gardening and most of all witnessing to everyone he came in contact with about his Savior. Everyone included people he met on the street, in a restaurant or on an elevator. When anyone needed prayer, they called Cletus Cox. He and Mary Ann shared a great love for their church and served consistently together until his death. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, July 25 at The Well at PPHC, 613 North Pamplico Highway, Pamplico, SC, with the funeral at 6:00 pm following the visitation. The funeral celebration will be officiated by Rev. Shep Stone, Pastor of The Well and Rev. Bradley Cox.Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Pamplico directed by Stoudenmire Dowling Funeral Home.
