CLAUDIA POWELL FLOWERS FLORENCE, SC CLAUDIA POWELL FLOWERS, 83, of Florence, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mrs. Flowers was born in Florence Co., SC a daughter of the late Roy and Susie Yarborough Powell.She was a faithful member of Mt. Elon Free Will Baptist Church for 60 years where she was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Treasurer of the Adult Sunday School Class.She retired after 25 years from Delta Mills and was a loving, caring mother and grandmother who inspired love in all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Flowers; daughter, Glenda Flowers Stone and Grandson, Jimmy Locklair. Surviving are her son, Darrell Flowers of Jackson County, Alabama; daughter, Paula (Don) Coleman of Pamplico; 5 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her loyal companion and dog, Phoebe. Memorials may be made to the Free Will Baptist Children's Home, PO Box 229, Turbeville, SC29162. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Mt. Elon Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
