Clarence "Chubby" Jeffords

Clarence “Chubby” Jeffords, 86, of Florence, passed away on September 4, 2017. Mr. Jeffords was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late Marion Jeffords and Cora Blaton Jeffords.He was a farmer and served in the National Guard.He was a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, a Mason and an honorary member of the PAC Hunting Club.Chubby loved sharing with those who were in need.He was full of life, strength, and determination.He plowed his fields with a hand plow and his donkey, Rusty.Everyone knew that he worked in the field from sun up to sun down and it was a highlight of the community to pass and see him doing what he loved.He plowed for the last time on Thursday, August 31, 2017, doing exactly what he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ray Jeffords, Willie Jeffords, Roland Jeffords, Beulah Jeffords, Louie Jeffords and Bob Jeffords. Surviving are his son, Homer Clarence Jeffords of Florence; daughters, Elizabeth Jeffords Tangemann of North Myrtle Beach, Sherry Jeffords (Earl) Edge of Longs, SC and Crystal Jeffords Sneed of Shallotte, NC; grandchildren, Heather Hyatt (Michael) Williamson, C.J. (Stacy) Jeffords, Maxie Glenn Jeffords and Joseph Elliott Jeffords, all of Florence; great grandchildren, Hannah Grace Williamson, Hailey Jeffords, Wyatt Surls and Nicklas Surls, all of Florence; brother, Marion “Jr.” Jeffords of Florence; sister, Voncille Bailey of Florence and special friends, Sam Breeden, John Hurst, Jerry Benton, Frank and Judith Williams and Mary and Bobby. Memorials may be made to Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 13502, Florence, SC 29504 or to the PAC Club, c/o Travis Ward, 601 Greenway Drive, Florence, SC29501. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church.
