Christopher "Chris" Michael Barr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher “Chris” Michael Barr, at the age of 52, husband of Jeanie Barr passed away peacefully at home on June 12th, 2026, while surrounded by his family that loves him dearly, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born June 25, 1973, in Florence, South Carolina, Christopher was the son of the late Jimmy Barr and Lena Barr Fraiser. A graduate of St. John’s High School, he grew up attending Effingham Church of God, where he developed a strong and enduring faith that guided him throughout his life.

Christopher found joy in the simple things and was happiest outdoors—fishing on the water, hunting in the woods, or tending to his lawn. Though he loved nature, his greatest joy was always his family. Time spent with his children and grandchildren was the treasure of his life, and he cherished every moment, milestones, and memory shared together.

A devoted husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Christopher touched countless lives with his kindness, strength, and unwavering love. His presence brought comfort and laughter to those around him, and his memory will forever remain a blessing.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Jeanie Barr; his sister, Beth (Mike) Poston; his children, Amber Barr Potter, Christopher (Brittany) Barr, and Tyler (Sydney) Barr; and his nine cherished grandchildren: Hailey Potter, Brock Potter, Brayden Potter, Bentley Barr, Wrenleigh Barr, Waylon Barr, Gracelynn Barr, Hunter Barr, Lakelynn Barr (expected in October), as well as his first great‑grandchild (expected in December). He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Christopher shared a special bond with his father‑in‑law and mother‑in‑law, Michael and Brenda Flegel, who loved him as one of their own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Barr and Lena Barr Fraiser; his brother, Danny Barr; and his granddaughter, Faith Barr.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Christopher has finished his race, fought the good fight, and is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior. His legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Effingham Church of God from 2:00PM-3:00pm Tuesday, June 16, 2026 followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
