Cheryl Ann Weese

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cheryl Ann Magensky Weese on June 9, 2026. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.

She is the daughter of Mary Magensky and the late John A. Magensky.

Cheryl was a devoted wife, a treasured friend, a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist, and someone whose quiet influence touched countless lives. For more than 40 years, she served in the laboratory profession with exceptional knowledge, precision, and integrity, working at Barberton Citizens Hospital, MUSC of Florence, and McLeod Hospital. She took great pride in her work and understood that behind every specimen, result, and procedure was a patient depending on accuracy and excellence. Equally, her warmth, mentorship, and steadfast professionalism left a lasting impact on her coworkers, who admired and cherished her guidance, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the people she served.

Cheryl will be remembered for her love, kindness, compassion, and genuine spirit. She always made others feel valued and welcomed. Her hardworking, caring, and friendly nature touched everyone she met.

Above all, Cheryl was a devoted wife, and her love for her husband, Jim, was the heart of her life. For 39 beautiful years, they shared a marriage filled with unwavering devotion, laughter, and deep companionship. Their bond was one of mutual respect and tender affection, a love that grew stronger with each passing year and inspired everyone who knew them. Together, they built a life rich in shared passions, from genealogy research to contributing thoughtful papers for historical societies, always cherishing the moments they spent side by side. Their love was not only enduring, but it was also a testament to the joy and warmth they brought into each other’s lives.

Cheryl also enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including working jigsaw puzzles, sharing recipes with friends and coworkers, and spending time with her beloved dog, Max.

Cheryl's impact on others will not be forgotten. Through her kindness, strength, warm smile, and willingness to help, she left a lasting impression on countless lives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mary Magensky of Akron, OH; her daughter, Jill Shokalook who was the light of her life and her husband Andrew Shokalook; grandchildren, Beau and Maksim Shokalook all of Clayton, NC; brothers, John (Corinne) Magensky of Southport, NC and Brian (Jennifer) Magensky, of Copley, OH; and two nieces and three nephews.
