Charlie Beverly Usher

Charlie Beverly Usher, Jr., 74, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Carolinian in Florence. Mr. Usher was born in Marlboro County, SC a son of the late Charlie Beverly Usher, Sr. and Margaret Geneva Allen Usher.He was given the nickname “Short Cut” by his grandparents and it is still being used by some.Charlie graduated from Clio schools, attended Clemson University and was a lifelong resident of Marlboro County and Florence.He was a business partner for many years with Mr. Ronnie Crow, one of his very best friends, was the Marlboro Clerk of Court for many years and a Mason.Charlie grew up on a family farm and was happiest sitting on his front porch watching the crops grow.He was a constant companion and caregiver of his loving mother, was known by many and loved by all, was the best brother possible and a father figure to many and a mentor to others.He was always loving toward others and helped many in need, he always enjoyed telling good stories and his quick wit and humor will be forever missed but never forgotten. Surviving are his brother, James Allen (Deloris) Usher, Sr. of Richmond, VA; nephew, James Allen (Elizabeth “Liz”) Usher, Jr. of Hanahan, SC; niece, Amy Elizabeth (Troy) Lacks of Richmond, VA; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kyra Ryan Usher, Avett James Usher, Owen Todd Lacks and Brynnleigh Allen Lacks and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org or to the American Kidney Fund, www.kidneyfund.org. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.
