Charlie A. Bailey

Charlie A. Bailey, Sr. Florence, SC Charlie A. Bailey, Sr., 87, of 3410 E. Old Marion Hwy., died early Monday morning, March 10, 2014 at his residence after a brief illness. Mr. Bailey was born in Florence County, SC.,October 23, 1926 a son of the late Charlie Spergon and Ruth Ester Alford Bailey. He had been employed with Nabisco Cookie Company and later retired from Sealtest Milk Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Fannie Sue Brown Bailey, second wife, Annie Mae Kirby Bailey; 2 sons, Charlie Allison “AL” Bailey and Aruther Ray Bailey; step-daughter, Charlette Kirby Langston; 2 sisters, Geneva Owens and Cathrine Bailey Collins; 4 brothers, Spergon Bailey, Andrew Bailey, Savage Bailey and Wilson Bailey. Surviving are his step-children, Lee (Lois) Kirby of Timmonsville, Phyllis Springs, her husband, the late Rocky Springs of Florence, Dillon Kirby of Sumter and Russell (Rose) Kirby of Florence; many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special niece, Jeanette Hutchinson and 2 sisters, Pearl Bailey Langford and Margaret Mallore. Funeral service will be held1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Burial will follow, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home and also following the service on Wednesday at the residence of Jeanette Hutchinson.
