Charles L. Willis, 82, of Florence, SC, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, after an illness. Mr. Willis was born on March 16, 1932 in Florence County to the late Daniel Boyd and Margaret Easterling Willis.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Eugene “Gene” Willis, Louise W. Matthews, William “Bill” Willis and Frank Boyd Willis, Sr. He was a graduate of McClenaghan High School and attended Carolina College of Commerce.He served in the US Naval Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was Honorably Discharged in 1954. He managed the grain marketing division of FCX for 17 years. He was then associated with Willis Construction Company for 23 years as secretary and treasurer. Mr. Willis was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Jimmy McNair Sunday School Class.He was a devoted husband to Christine Blalock Willis for 57 years. Surviving him are his wife, Christine; a daughter, Robin (Lee) Freeman; grandson, Luke Freeman; and step-grandchildren, Jessica Britt and Dix Freeman. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at St. Paul United Methodist Church.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Family Life Center at St. Paul United Methodist Church.The family will also receive visitors at the home of Robin and Lee Freeman, 236 Ames Bury Point, Florence, SC29501.
