Charles Frederick Ward Darlington, SC Charles Frederick Ward, 73, of Darlington went to be with his Lord and Savior, early Thursday Morning at his residence after an illness. Mr. Ward was born in Florence, a son of the late Charles and Susie Johanna Witherspoon Ward.He is a Veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis having served with the US Marine Corps.Mr. Ward went on to receive his BS from Francis Marion College in 1977.He is a former member of the Florence Fire Dept., a former member of the SC Highway Patrol, and a former teacher at Florence Christian School.Mr. Ward then opened and operated CFW Investigative Services where he was a private investigator. He was a lifelong member of the Marine Corp. League and a member of the Florence Baptist Temple for over 40 years. Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Bonnie Thorpe Ward; a son, Glenn David (Frances) Ward of Florence; a daughter, Carlene Marie (Steve) Martin of Florence; four grandchildren, Mason Tyler Ward, Justin Kyle Martin, Cody Nicholas Martin, and Zachary Steven Martin; a brother, John David Ward of Columbia; a sister, Susan (Bob) McCoy of Savannah, GA; two lifelong friends, Charles Rogers and Jimmy Miles; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Florence Baptist Temple.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
