Charles Ravenel Huggins

Charles Ravenel Huggins, 91, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017. Mr. Huggins was born in Mullins, SC a son of the late Percy Powell Huggins and Susan Kate Platt Huggins.He retired from the City of Florence as superintendent of the Waste Water Treatment Plant.He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Elliott Huggins; son, Charles Stephen Huggins; brother, Powell Huggins and sister, Kathryn “Tootsie” Cox. Surviving are his sons, Mark Carter (Sharon Ward) Huggins of North Palm Beach, FL and Wayne Elliott (Jennifer Vela) Huggins of North Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Donna Huggins (W. Rudy) Lewis of Evergreen; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Huggins (Stan) James of Union, SC and sister-in-law, Frances Huggins of Evergreen. Memorials may be made to Evergreen Baptist Church, 6316 Pamplico Highway, Effingham, SC29541. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Evergreen Baptist Church with the service to take place at 2:00 in the church sanctuary.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
