CHARLES FRANKLIN “SMOKEY” HUDSON Lamar, SC Charles Franklin “Smokey” Hudson, 79, of Lamar, SC passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Hudson was born in Darlington Co., SC a son of the late John Ira Hudson and Oneta Weltha Tennant Hudson.He was the owner and operator of Hudson Metal Processing and had worked for Union Carbide for 8 years.He was a member of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lottie Whitley Hudson, who passed away on January 1, 2009; brothers, Clayton Hudson, Sr., Gene Hudson and John Hudson; sister, Mary Gore and a step-grandchild. Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Dempsey Hudson; sister, Ruth (Horace) Bodie of Garden City; children, Derwin (Melanie) Hudson of Coward, Glenda (Greg) Calder of Florence and Loretta (Jeff) Platt of Florence; step-children, Duane (Gale) McGee of Lamar, Edward (Deanna) McGee of Lexington, Joe (Lynn) McGee of Gilbert and Tammy (David) Miliam of Aiken; 8 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a sister in law, Argie Hudson of Florence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church, P. O. Box 3905, Florence, SC29502. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
