CHARLES ALLEN CLENDENIN, 73, of Florence, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at McLeod Hospice House after an illness. Mr. Clendenin was born in Minden, West Virginia, a son of the late Elbert F. Clendenin and Marie Ellis Clendenin. He was a coal miner for twenty-two years in Virginia and enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.Mr. Clendenin was a member of Love Life Ministry and attended New Beginnings Church. He went into the light to be with the Lord, awaiting him are his parents, his son, Charles Allen Clendenin, Jr., and his brother, Wesley “Wildman” Clendenin. He is survived by his wife, Nina G. “Gerry” Clendenin; his sons, Brian (Theresa) Stephen Clendenin of Tazewell, VA and Andrew Robert Clendenin of Florence, SC.One of his greatest joys in life was his grandson, Charles R. “Buck” Clendenin of Florence along with four other grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.He is also survived by his brother, Forrest (Sandy) Clendenin of Florence, his sister-in-law, Brenda Clendenin of Florence and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday May 12, 2013, at Singleton Funeral Home.
