Cephus Werts Long

CEPHUS WERTS LONG FLORENCE, SC Cephus Werts Long, 83, of Florence, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Long was born in Newberry, South Carolina, a son of the late James Frederick Long and Annie Lucille Long.He was the Executive Vice-President of Eskridge-Long Construction Company, retiring after seventeen years of service.Mr. Long was past President of the Civitan Club and had a record of fifty-two years of consecutive perfect attendance.He was also a member of Mu Beta Psi, Tau Beta Pi, and Phi Kappa Phi.He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher for twenty-five years and a past President of the Church Council. Mr. Long was a registered professional engineer in six states.He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and was President of the Society in 1987.He was on the Board of Trustees at McLeod Medical Center Foundation and Chairman of the Investment Committee and member of the Executive Committee. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Livingston Long; his daughter, Carolanne (Yancy) Long Wells of Florence; grandchildren, Charlotte (Joshua) Wells Styles of Greer, Mark (Shannon) Yancy Wells of Florence, and Catherine Laurel Wells of Florence; and great-grandchildren, Cara Noelle Styles, Anna Caroline Styles, and John Mark Wells. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 4, 2013, at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from4:00 PM-6:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
