Carlton Ervin Turner Jr.

Carlton Ervin Turner Jr., 67, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

He was born in Florence, SC, the son of Carlton Ervin Turner Sr. and the late Rachel Borkowitz Turner. Mr. Turner was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed horseback riding in the mountains and fishing in Wateree and the Santee. He worked for La-Z-Boy for over 20 years and later went on to make his own business called The Pool Boy. He was a longtime member of Elim Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Carol DeWayne.

Surviving are his father, Carlton Ervin Turner Sr.; wife, Mary Smith Turner; daughter, Amanda Turner; stepdaughters, Terrie Bell and Amy Smith; 6 step grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth (Dr. Stuart) Schnider; many nieces, nephews and extended family; and his beloved walking horses Diesel and Phoenix.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
