Carlton Eugene “Buddy” Benton, Sr. Florence, SC Carlton Eugene “Buddy” Benton, Sr., 84, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 after an illness. Mr. Benton was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late Carl Allard Benton and Annie Bell Turner Benton.He attended Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church and spent his life farming. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Ameche Poston; siblings, William “Red” Benton, Betty Young, Sybil Severance, Hallie McCutcheon and Patricia “Pat” Hicks. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Earlene Allen Benton of Florence; children, Jenelle Poston of Effingham and Carlton (Teresa) Benton, Jr. of Florence; siblings, Margaret Bell and Helen Crawford, both of Florence; grandchildren, Karen Renea Benton, Karla Michelle Rogers, Kimberly Nichole (Matt) Winburn, April Danielle (Cam) Devaney, Kelly Marie (Ronnie) Knight, Chasity Renea Carter and Skyler Ameche Poston; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Karson and Kameron Nettles, Alyssa Taylor, Abigail Rogers, Daley Winburn, Max and Alex Devaney and Benton Drew and Ellie Ann Knight. Flowers will be welcomed or memorials may be made to Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church, 7001 Friendfield Road, Effingham, SC 29541 or Lebanon Cemetery, 6880 Gregg Lane, Effingham, SC29541. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 2, 2014 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home and from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Friday morning prior to the service.Other times, the family will be at Mr. Benton’s residence.
