Carleen Charlotte Carrier, 84, of Quinby, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Carrier was born the daughter of the late Carl Robert Seiffert and Ida Matilda Smith Seiffert in Hillsboro, Oregon on July 20, 1933.On April 19, 1988, she became a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi by election of the Chapter at Frances Marion College.She graduated from Frances Marion College, Magna Cum Laude in 1990, with a Bachelor Degree.She was a stay at home mom while her husband served in the US Army (1954-1973) and then while her husband worked at Francis Marion College (University) (1973-1997).She was involved with the Boys Scouts and received the Silver Fawn Award, Occoneechee Council, 421 on October 19, 1972, the Lamb Award (Lutheran Scouting Religious Award) on November 1, 1982 and the Cub Scout Trainers Wood Badge SE-CS-4, Antelope Den, in Tennessee on September 15, 1970.Mrs. Carrier was an active Sunday School Teacher and Church Librarian at St. James Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, NC and at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Florence, SC.She participated in training and counseling as a Stephen Minister at St. Luke Lutheran Church of Florence, SC for many years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Lynn Carrier and twelve older siblings, including her brother, Herbert Samuel Seiffert. Mrs. Carrier is survived by her husband of 63 years, W. Dale Carrier, Sr.; sons, William D. “Jay” Carrier (Pam) of Mt. Vernon, OH, Randy W. Carrier (Joyce) of Henrico, VA and Thomas B. Carrier of Fredricksburg, VA; daughter, Wendy C. Carmon (Billy) of Florence; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at St. Luke Lutheran Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Private interment will take place following the service. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
