Brenda Sheehan Phelan, 88, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
Mrs. Phelan was born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Violet Brown Sheehan and James Sheehan.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Phelan and brother, Phillip Brown Sheehan.
Surviving are her husband, Leo H. Phelan; sons, Patrick Phelan, John Murray Phelan and Richard Michael Phelan; and grandchildren, Morgan Whitney Little and Devin Phelan-Weisberger.
Mrs. Phelan was a graduate of Charlotte Catholic High School in 1955. She attended New York School Of Interior Design and became a watercolor artist winning many awards. Her artistic spirit had a great effect on her children and grandchildren. She taught that everything great begins at observing life – whether folds in fabric or rustic barn or pearled dew on roses. She was also a photographer for J. C. Penney taking baby pictures. She taught art at All Saints in Florence and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the National Watercolor Society. Mrs. Phelan was a loving wife, mom and grandmother.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 9, 20206, at St. Anthony Catholic Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
