Brenda Faye Garner Matthews

Brenda Faye Garner Matthews, 61, of Effingham, SC, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026.

She was the daughter of William James Garner and the late Brenda Joyce Hewitt.

Brenda never met a stranger. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A natural caregiver, she loved cooking and bringing family together for gatherings filled with love and laughter. Brenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt whose kindness touched countless lives. She also dedicated nearly 40 years to helping run her father's business, Williams Frames and Body, where her hard work and commitment left a lasting impact.

Surviving are her children, Candy Matthews and Nicholas Garner; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cook and Bradley Cook Jr.; sisters, Renee Garner, Ellie Kaye Garner Greene, and Pamela Smith; cousin but sister at heart, Lynn McRae Gore; and two nieces and three nephews.

Stoudenmire-Dowling is assisting the family.
