Bobby Lerans Hicks, 82, of Murrells Inlet, formerly of Florence, SC, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, November 06, 2016. Born December 23, 1933 in Timmonsville, SC, to Herbert Hicks and Eliza Brown Hicks.He was a graduate of Bonaire High School and a graduate of Clemson University where he received his degree in Civil Engineering.He was a partner in Lind-Hicks Surveying of Timmonsville, SC until his retirement.Mr. Hicks served in the US Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence. He was well known for his dedicated coaching of Little League Baseball in Tara Village and he remained an avid baseball fan. He was a Clemson IPTAY member for many years and loved his Clemson Tigers.He was also a member of Woodmen of the World where he supported his community.Mr. Hicks was a loving, dedicated husband, father and grandfather and loved his sisters and brothers. Predeceasing him was his beautiful wife, Gwen Cooper Hicks who died on November 4, 2011; his sons, Kent Wade Hicks and Keith Adams; brothers, Nople Hicks, Eddie Hicks, Tony Hicks, Houston Hicks, and Harry Hicks; and sisters, Tressie Powers, Louise Hicks and Tracy Hicks. Surviving are his daughters, Celeste Souza and Bonnie (Richard) Stiles of Garden City, SC; Becky (John) Morris of Summerton, SC and Heather Hicks of Florence, SC.Also survived by a sister, Claudia Burley of Florence and Mendell Brown, whom he thought of as a brother.Surviving grandchildren, Erica (Daniel) Navarro of Charleston, Megan (Adam) Schulz of Loris, Brandon (Felicia) Souza of Wisconsin, Mollye Baker, Robbin (Amber) Thompson, Brandon (Anthony) Ward, Keith Powell, and Garrett Poston, all of Florence.Surviving great-grandchildren Hazel Navarro, Chase Pierce, Cameron Baker, McKenzie and Morgan Thompson, Carter and Hannah Reese, Catherine Clair Ward and Dylan and Warren Souza and Allison Rose Poston. Mr. Hicks and his late wife, Gwen, loved to travel and travelled almost all 50 states and many foreign countries.They opened their home to family and friends and led many to the Lord. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home and other times at the residence of granddaughter, Mollye Baker, 2619 Spring Street, Florence, SC.
