BLAINE CLARK "TOM" McCANTS FLORENCE, S.C. BLAINE CLARK "TOM" McCANTS, 75, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 after battling a lengthy illness. Mr. McCants was born in Lancaster, SC on July 13, 1936 to the late Wade H. McCants and Oletta Clark Mahaffey. He was a graduate of The University of South Carolina and Florence-Darlinigton Technical College. Tom served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Berlin, Germany. He held the Florence Roto-Rooter franchise for 30 years. In more recent years he enjoyed road trips, cigars, and spending time with his granddaughters. He attended Highland Park United Methodist Church and knew the Lord as Savior. Tom was preceded in death by his son and namesake, Blaine C. McCants, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sandra Bonnoitt McCants; his daughters, Vera Ellyn "Lynn" McCants, Michele Kea; son, Ken (Crystal ) Smith; grandchildren; Stephanie (Kenneth) McNama, Ann'a Kea and Kaitlyn Smith; special "son" McIver "Mac" Suggs; sisters, Fran (Guy) Turner, Diane "Biddie" Petrey and Gracie (Mel) Denton. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence. Burial will be at a later date in the Florence National Cemetery.
