Billy Jones

Billy Jones, 72, of Florence, SC died at his home on September 19, 2017 following a long illness.He was born in Florence and was a son of the late Bearl Justice “Jack” Jones and Effie Calder Jones. Billy was a decorated Vietnam Army veteran having received among other awards, the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 DVC, Vietnam Service Medal and Sharpshooter (M-16 rifle).He spent most of his adult life in the construction business. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patsy “Pat” Roland Jones; sons, Scott (Kisha) Jones of Florence and Taylors, SC William E. Jones and Jason (Michelle) Jones of Lexington, SC; daughter, Angela Jones of Florence; granddaughter, Kristina Jones of Florence and Taylors, SC; brothers, Bobby Jones of Pensacola, FL and Aaron (Sophie) Gandy of Latta, SC; sisters, Edna Jones of Marion, Elizabeth Strickland of Latta, Katie Tolar, Navassa Chichester, Willie-Jean (Bobby) Montrose, all of Florence and Francis Foxworth of Pamplico; sisters-in-law, Shirley Jones of Effingham and Mert Jones of McMinnville, TN and brother-in-law, Chip (Sarah) Taylor of Cottonwood, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly Anne Jones; brothers, James “Bubba” Jones and Edmond Jones; sisters, Gertrude Strickland, Margaret Grady, Carrie Welch, Velma Grady and Geneva Medley. The family will receive visitors at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 7 – 9 PM Thursday, September 21, 2017 and other times at the residence.
