Betty Irick Wright

Betty Irick Wright, 86, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Wright was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late James Coy Irick and Carolyn Harmon Irick.She retired after 41 years of service as a clerk at Atlantic Coastline Railroad. Mrs. Wright was a foster parent for many years, having fostered several children and was active in the VFW auxiliary.She was a member of South Florence Baptist Church and had a great love for animals, especially Madison and Tessa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Chuck McCain; her brothers, Louie Irick and James Irick; and her sisters, Sophie Plummer and Dot Pedrick. Surviving are her sisters, Louise I. Jacob of Florence and Bobby Irick of Columbia; her brother, Steve (Jean) Irick of Florence; her nieces, Jayne McGirt, Becky Blanchard, Tracy Grubbs, Lea Ann I. Williams; and nephews, Bruce Irick, Jr. , Mike Jacob and Louie Irick, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013, graveside at Mount Hope Cemetery directed byStoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
