Betty Sue Barnes Knapp

Betty Sue Barnes Knapp, 87, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Knapp was born in Winston-Salem, NC, a daughter of the late Millard Filmore Barnes and Annabell Campbell Barnes.She was a very active and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church for sixty-two years where she as a member of Circle #2, and served as a Sunday School Teacher, provided her birthday ministry, and served in many other capacities.Before moving to Florence, she was a member of Fairview Moravian Church in Winston-Salem.Mrs. Knapp retired from the office of Dr. Orachun Sitti and Dr. Sarawadee Sitti. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Knapp, Sr. Surviving are her children, Charles W. “Bill” (Beth) Knapp, Jr. of Abbeville, SC and Nancy Browder Rogerson of Florence; grandchildren, Stuart (Amy) Knapp, Erin “Dr. Ralph” Layland, Kris Rogerson and Rhett (Kelly) Browder; seven great-children, Lexi, Charlee, Jordan, Austin, Kinslee, Kaylee and Ethan; son-in-law, Bruce A. Rogerson of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at a later date.The family is being assisted by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
