Betty Epperson Kirkman

Betty Epperson Kirkman, 70, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at a local hospital. Mrs. Kirkman was born in Lynchburg, VA, a daughter of the late Joseph Epperson and Dorothy Holt Epperson. She was a member of the Christ Church On King Avenue.She previously worked for the Florence County School District as a secretary at Moore Middle School for ten years.She then worked as a receptionist at Carolina Canners, formerly Pepsi Cola, for around twenty years. Surviving are her children, Laura (Gary) Herrington of McBee, SC and Eric (Kathryn) Kirkman of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Charles Herrington, Savannah Herrington, Madison Herrington, all of McBee, SC and Eric “E.J.” Kirkman, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; her twin sister, Brenda Puckett of Virginia, and a number of special friends here in Florence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Christ Church On King Avenue.Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Christ Church On King Avenue, 800 King Avenue, Florence, SC29501.
