Barbara Ann Stokes Griffin Cantey

Barbara Ann Stokes Griffin Cantey, 73, of Florence, entered her eternal rest on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at her home after a long illness surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Cantey was born in Estill SC, a daughter of the late James Merrell Stokes and Lillie Smith Stokes. She graduated from Florence-Darlington Tech and then attended Chris Logan Cosmetology School to become a hair dresser. She was married to the late Joseph Paul Griffin and the love of her life Julian Gene Cantey. She is survived by three children, Johnny Griffin of Florence, SC, Tony Griffin of Raleigh Durham, NC and Susan (Thomas) Hudson of Florence, SC; eight grandchildren, Lechelle (Justin) Mayo of Darlington, Cole Griffin of Charleston, SC, Bryson Griffin of the home, Dana Pack and Joseph Pack, both of Florence, Tyler Griffin, Justin Griffin, and Steven Griffin, all of Virginia; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Mayo, Annistynn Mayo and Bailey Morris; brother, James Stokes of Merry Hill, N.C. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wesley Stokes and one very special niece, Sandra Stokes. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Community Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-DowlingFuneral Home.
