Annie Belle Cates Matherly

Annie Bell Cates Matherly, 93, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Matherly was born in Upland, Arkansas, a daughter of the late James Monroe Cates and Annie C. Phillips Cates.She was an accountant with Murphy Oil Corporation for over twenty years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Matherlyis preceded in death by her husband, Asa Coleman Matherly; two sisters and four brothers. Surviving are son, Dennis (Linda) Matherly of Florence, SC and daughter. Barbara (Ronald) Poole of Haughton, LA; six grandchildren, Scott Matherly, James Matherly, Daniel Matherly, Gregory Poole, Sharon Vtipil and Michael Poole; eleven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at Lake Chapel Cemetery in Johnsonville, SC, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church of your choice.
