Anne Willson Bethea Powell, 89, died Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015 at Thrushwood, her Florence home. She was born in Marion SC, a daughter of the late William Willson and Sarah Bell Gregg Bethea.She was a lifelong resident of Florence and a member of the Anglican Church of Our Saviour.After completing school in Marion, she graduated from Coker College and received a Masters in Library Science from the University of Georgia.Anne was a very active member of the Camellia Garden Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Literary Society and the Maxcey Gregg UDC Chapter. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Aurice L. Powell. Survivors include her two sons, W. Willson (Karen Brosius) Powell of Columbia, SC and Henry B. (Elizabeth) Powell of Kissimmee, FL; daughter, Anne Sherwood (Gale) Garrett of Columbia; four grandchildren, Daniel L. (Courtney) Wilson and Sarah Wilson (Adam) Bryant, both of Columbia and Elizabeth Powell and Edward Powell, both of Kissimmee, FL; two great-grandchildren, Adelaide Kate and Scarlett Mae Bryant, both of Columbia. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, with the Most Reverend Mark Haverland officiating.
