Ann Smith Billups, 72, of Effingham, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at a local hospital. Mrs. Billups was born in Lancaster County, SC, a daughter of the late Rev. Coley Livingston Smith and Ruby Louise Phillips Smith.She retired from AT&T after thirty-nine years of service.She was the co-owner of A & B Vending.Mrs. Billups was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, the Telephone Pioneers, Carolina Pelicans RV Group and Woodmen of the World.She was a former member of Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Tequila Haywood; step-daughter, Ginger Lacoss; her brother, Rev. Dr. Jerry L. Smith; her sisters, Rebecca Dudley and Peggy Hendricks. Surviving are husband, Robert “Bob” H. Billups of Effingham; her children, Dawn Renee Brown of Florence, Felicia (Paul) Guyton of Myrtle Beach; step-daughter, Linda (Ken) Brennan of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Allen (Melisa) Whittington, Mark (Rita) Whittington, Amber (Byron) L. Bazen, Tyler Guyton and Lauren Brennan; step-grandchildren, Cecilie Lacoss and Joey Lacoss; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bonnie (Carl) Combs of Pensacola, FL and Joyce (Dr. Julian) Hayes of Lexington, SC; and a number of special nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Scranton. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family extends specials thanks to Dr. Jona Vinod for his care of Mrs. Billups. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in South Carolina, 44-A Markfield Drive Charleston, SC 29407.
