Mrs. Angela Gandy Harpe, age 67, of Florence, South Carolina, peacefully departed this life on November 28, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Zoar Methodist Church Cemetery, officiated by Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Born on August 16, 1958, in Aiken, South Carolina, Angela was the daughter of the late Robert Hill Gandy and Wilma Catherine “Katie” Chavis Gandy. She was a 1976 graduate of Chesterfield High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Francis Marion University. Angela was a member of Zoar Methodist Church where she attended from an early with her parents. She began her teaching career at Edwards Elementary in Chesterfield, where she taught for 17 years. After moving to Florence, she worked at Ebenezer Baptist Church Weekday Preschool before returning to Florence District 1, from which she retired in 2015.
Angela cherished spending quality time with her husband and family at their beach home and had a true passion for shopping.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Michael Gandy.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Billy Harpe; her son, John “Taylor” (Hannah) Harpe of Florence, SC; and her grandson, Tanner Harpe. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Katie Gandy of Chapin, SC; Zach (Jessica) Harpe of Charleston, SC; Toby (Summer) Rhyne of Cheraw, SC; Jody (Marcia) Rhyne and Leigh Ann (Jonathan) Penny, both of Chesterfield, SC; and Chris (Caitlin) Teachey of Simpsonville, SC. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Laura B. Gandy of Chapin, SC; Jerry Harpe; Rhonda (David) Rhyne; and Karen Teachey, all of Chesterfield, SC; along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, Michelle Hester of Crescent Hospice of Florence and Anita Williams of Hartsville, SC, for their compassionate support.
