Alvis Hicks

ALVIS HICKS FLORENCE, SC Alvis Hicks, 83, of Florence, passed away January 16, 2013 at McLeod Hospital. Mr. Hicks was born April 14, 1929 in Pamplico, SC to Stanley and Florie Stone Hicks.He was a veteran of the US Navy having received the WWII Victory Medal during his service from 1947 – 1950.He retired from Horne Ford after 33 years of service and was an active member of Prospect United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Nathan Miller and brothers, Eugene, Herman, Julian and Joseph Hicks. Surviving are his children; Kathleen Cole (David) Murphy, Susan (Skip) Beach, Nancei Segal, Michael (Anita) Hicks and Jennifer (Jim) Mishoe; his children’s mother, Barbara K. Hicks; grandchildren, Patricia (Rodney) Miller, Jordan Hicks, Paul Segal, Ryan Hicks and Cameron Mishoe; great-granddaughter, Sydney Miller; sister, Leola Turner; brothers, Dewey (Fumi) Hicks, Aron Hicks, Gerald (Annette) Hicks, LeGrand (Ann) Hicks, Thomas (Cindy) Hicks, Ronald (Madeline) Hicks and Wayne (Polly) Hicks; many beloved family members including his nieces and nephews and lifelong friend, Ronald Deas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hicks Family Cemetery Memorial Fund, 1711 Raven Drive, Florence, SC29505. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Prospect United Methodist Church in Hyman.Burial will follow at Hicks Family Cemetery in Coward directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
