Alton Odell Lloyd of Florence, SC, passed away on May 8, 2025, at The Veteran Village of Florence. Born November 8, 1936, he was the son of the late Muldrow Dowling Lloyd and Vera Thomas Lloyd.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Michael “Mikey” Lloyd, his son Marc Alton Lloyd, his brother Dennis Lloyd and his stepdaughter Tonya (Toni) Gregory Copeland.
He was 88 & 1/2 years old.
Alton proudly served 8 years in the military—2 in the Army National Guard and 6 in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a heavy equipment salesman in the Pee Dee Region and was well known among customers and friends alike. He cherished fishing trips to Rice Hope Plantation on the Cooper River and bi-annual “Root Hog” gatherings in the North Carolina mountains.
He is survived by his son Muldrow Donald “Don” Lloyd (Kelley), stepdaughters Tina Jackson (Wayne) and Tamara Gregory, grandchildren, a special cousin Fleetwood (Woody) Grooms Pate, and his best friend and fishing companion Clyde Lane.
