Allene Wyrick Deweese

Allene Wyrick DeWeese, 84, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, McLeod Regional Medical Center. Mrs. DeWeese was born in Greensboro, North Carolina , a daughter of the late Theodore Wyrick and Nellie Gerringer Wyrick.She graduated with BA from Greenville College in Illinois and taught at South Florence High School in Florence for twenty-eight years. Mrs. DeWeese was a faithful member of Highland Park United Methodist Church for over fifty years where she was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class.She taught Sunday School, played the piano and organ and sang alto in the choir.Mrs. DeWeese was instrumental in the founding of and on the board of the Christian Learning Center of Florence County.She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, William Lee DeWeese who died on May 22, 2007. Surviving are her sons, David DeWeese of Bennettsville, SC and Duane DeWeese and his wife, Lauren, of Mt. Pleasant, SC and two grandchildren, Steven and Ashley DeWeese of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Highland United Methodist Church.Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
